According to 'Portrait and Biographical Album of Benton County, Iowa.' Chicago: Chapman Brothers, 1887. page 290, Levi SMELSER / SMELTZER resided in Benton County in the 1850s. According to that article cited above, his mother, Hannah GREEN SMELSER / SMELTZER (born ca 1797) died on Nov. 29, 1856, apparently in Benton County. I am seeking verification of her death date and information about her burial, perhaps even a photo of her grave stone if she has one. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

SMELSER -- I am seeking further information on my family members who resided in Benton County -- some only for a short while. I see from the index to the 1856 Iowa census that there were perhaps 15 SMELSERs listed. Most, if not all of these are of interest. One of the Hannahs and her husband Joseph are my ancestors, the others are collateral relatives. Is there someone who has access to this census and could check these entries for me? I would be happy to pay the copy and postage costs, or they could be attached to an email.

Lewis Ellsworth DYER m. Cordelia NOBLE in Boardman Iowa. They had many children amd we believe he had a brother Jared who married an Amanda. We know he was a teamster and a minor and eventually move to Jemstown (now Jamestown) where he was buried. He married Cordelia NOBLE, daughter of Alonson NOBLE. We believe the boys, Lewis and Jared came from New York and that their parents came from Connecticut.

I am researching the family of my ancestor, Sarah INGLEDOVE, born in 1792 in Virginia. In the 1860 US census of Benton County, Iowa, I have found a number of individuals with that surname. They are the families of William R. INGLEDOVE, born 1800 in Virginia, and Samuel INGLEDOVE, born in 1810 in Kentucky. I found these families in the 1850 US census of Boone County, Indiana. After 1860, I find no trace of this surname in the US, except an Oscar INGLEDOVE in 1880. I have wondered what happened to them and whether they changed the surname to something else. I would appreciate any information that anyone could provide. Shellee Anderson Annapolis, Maryland shelleeanderson@cs.com

I am looking for burial information on William Talbot GREENLEE born 2 Mar 1851 died 29 Apr. 1931 in Farnam Nebraska. It is believed that his son, Frank E GREENLEE who had a farm near Jesup, brought him back to Belle Plaine for burial. I would also like information on "WT"'s Wife, Effie L (HUSTED) GREENLEE. It is believed that she died in 1947 and was also buried in the Belle Plaine area. I did find WT's parents Francis Marion GREENLEE and Alpha M (GUIN) GREENLEE in the Beal cemetery.
