I did a little looking for you and solved the mystery of what happened to Backus and Eliza Leach. Glad it worked out.

TRAGIC DEATH OF BACKUS LEACH
Falls From Wagon and Loses Life Instantly
Funeral SaturdayWhile riding with his son last Friday morning who was delivering oil in the Northwestern yards, the team became frightened by an engine near the coal chute and went over the track with considerable speed, throwing Mr. Leach from the seat down behind the horses the wagon passing over him, killing him instantly. The body was taken to the Kubitschek undertaking and later to the home of Jessie B. Leach on South Lincoln street.
The deceased was born at Elkhart, Ill., Sept. 6th, 1853, and his unfortunate death occurred July 17, 1914. On February 21, 1878 at Elkhart he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Osborne and to this union six children were born, three girls and three boys, all of whom are living. The mother died in Eagle Grove, Nov. 25th, 1912. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Leach went to Minnesota and in 1906 came to Eagle Grove where two of the children reside, Mr. J. B. Leach and Mrs. Ed Kist.
The funeral was held at the J. B. Leach home Saturday at 4 p.m., Rev. Wilkinson of the Methodist church conducting the services. The remains were taken to Elkhart, Ill., for interment beside the wife and mother. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church, exemplary and upright in life. The bereaved relatives have the warm sympathy of all in their great affliction.

Obituary of Mrs. B. Leach
Mrs. B. Leach passed away at her home in this city Monday, Nov. 25th, after a lingering illness. She has been an invalid for a number of years paralysis making her almost helpless during the past three weeks. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. C. B. Winters having charge of the services. The remains will be taken to Elkhart, Ill., for burial.
Eliza Jane Osborne was born Feb. 21st 1849 in Penfield N. Y. and was married to Backus Leach, Feb. 21st 1879. To this union six children were born, Bennett, Dan, Jesse, Cora, Nellie and Lula who with the husband survive. The deceased was a kind and loving mother and active in church work being a member of the M. E. church. The relatives have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
