I found James T. Quinn's two letters (dated in March 1987 and another in January 1992). He had been sick in 1987 when he wrote me the first letter so he may not be alive now.
But in the 1987 letter, he said he knew my grandfather personally. He also said his grandma (Isabell Nancy "Belle" Higgins) used to live in the west end of Ottumwa while he as a boy lived on the opposite end (east end of town). He used the street car to go across and visit her.
In the 1992 letter, James Quinn said he remembered Clara Mabel, Violet and William Higgins well and that he and his family visited Clara Mabel Tuell a year before her death. William "Bill" had died in Tucson, AZ, while Violet McNamara died in 1988.
He added that James Joseph Higgins was born in Ireland on August 6, 1858, and that Isabell Nancy Parks was born on June 12, 1858, and died on August 13, 1925 (which matches the facts on her Kansas Dept. of Public Health death certificate perfectly).
His information on the last 3 children of Belle Higgins is:
*Clara Mabel...born 11 Aug. 1895 in Brighton, Iowa; died on 19 Nov. 1934 in Wichita, Kansas. Her husband was Charles Albert Tuell, who was born on 22 Sept. 1890 at Maize, Kansas; died on 9 January 1959 in Denver, Colorado. They were married Sept. 30, 1917. They both were buried at Kechi Cemetery, Kechi, Kansas.
*Violet Veronica Higgins...born 8 July 1897 in Sigourney, Iowa; died in 1988 in Burlington, IA. Her husband was Charles Harold McNamara, who was born in Galesburg, Ill. (date of birth was left blank here) and died around 1940 in Tucson, AZ.
*William Edward Higgins...who was born 24 Nov. 1899 and died in July 1964 or 1969 (James Quinn wrote which looked like either 1964 or 1969). His wife was Evalyn Engstrom.
The children of Charles A. Tuell and Clara Mabel Higgins were:
*Charles Arthur Tuell...born 3 July 1918
*William J. Tuell...born 31 Dec. 1921 at Valley Center, Kansas.
*Paul Vincent Tuell...born 3 June 1927I thought it was James Quinn who wrote me about his siblings, including Sister Dorothy Quinn, but obviously, it must be that Sister who wrote me about Dorothy and the other siblings. Now I have to find her letter, then.
