Mrs. Minnie Ahrens died December 13, 1955, at the age of 89. She was born April 04, 1866, on a farm near Elkport, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Anthoney and Dora Kafer. She was the only living member of her family, having been preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Thompson of Manchester, Mrs. Aaron (Tracy) Heacock, and Mrs. Joe (Doris) Beaker of Dubuque; and by four brothers, Frank, John and Tony of Littleport, and Paul of Yankton, S.Dak.
On April 06, 1885, she married William Meyer and spent most of her life on a farm in Clayton county. They had six children, all of them still living. She later married Charles Ahrens of Dundee. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George (Nettie) Baumgartner of Dundee, Mrs. Miles (Emma) Alderson of Strawberry Point, Mrs. John (Grace) Eystad of Vinton, and Mrs. Ray (Minnie) Whitney of Longview, Wash.; two sons, Frank Meyer of Manchester and Peter Meyer of Vinton; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church at Dundee.
Prayer services were held in the chapel of the Gill funeral home in Manchester Friday, Dec. 16, at 12:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1 o'clock in the St. John's Lutheran church in Dundee. Interment was in the cemetery at Strawberry Point.
