Burial services for Mrs. Grace Ryan, 66, of Oelwein, were held Monday forenoon at Sacred Heart cemetery in Volga. The Rev. Father Karl Klein, pastor of Sacred Heart church officiated.
The funeral mass was read at 9:00 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart church in Oelwein, prior to the burial here.
Mrs. Ryan died early Friday morning, Dec. 02, at her home in Oelwein, after several months illness due to heart trouble.
A daughter of John and Mary Roach Rinkert, she was born at Volga, Iowa, May 13, 1889.
In June 1914, she was married to Dr. J. J. Burns, a dentist in Volga. He died in 1921.
On September 15, 1930, she was married to J. Thomas Ryan. He died Jan. 26, 1952.
The past twenty years, she has resided at Oelwein. Her parents and one brother, Lewis Rinkert, preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Merrill (Bernice) Kelly of Osage, and one son, William Burns of Burlington, several grandchildren and other relatives.
Among those from a distance present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Kelly and family, Osage; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Burns and family, Burlington; Frank and Harry Kreig, Waterloo; William Burns, Shelby, Mont.; and Mrs. T. A. Ryan, Missouri Valley, Iowa.
