Guttenberg, Ia. - John A. Kafar, 70, Guttenberg, died Monday at Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City, Ia.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Tuecke Funeral Home in Guttenberg. Burial will be in Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Elkport, Ia.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Noyes, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Minnie Meier, San Bernardino, Calif.; Mrs. Alice Jenkins, Guttenberg; two brothers, George, Cassville, Wis.; Andrew, Rockford, Ill.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Tuecke funeral chapel for John Anthony Kafer, 69. Mr. Kafer died Monday at the Veterans' hospital in Iowa City of cancer of the chest.
The services will be conducted by Rev. E.W. Kraemer, pastor of St. John Lutheran church, and burial will be in Mt. Harmony cemetery near Elkport.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kafer, Mr. Kafer was born June 1890, at Elkport and in the year 1923 married Hilda Horstman at Elkport.
Though recently retired, Mr. Kafer was employed for a number of years by the Pierce lumber company. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving Mr. Kafer are Mrs. Kafer; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Noyes of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Minnie Meier of San Bernardino, California; Mrs. Alice Jenkins of Guttenberg; and two brothers, George Kafer of Cassville, Wisconsin and Andrew Kafer of Rockford, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, one of whom died in infancy and the other passing at the age of three years.
