Funeral services were held Friday, August 26, 1960, for Mrs. Minnie Meier at the Peace E. and R. Church, Elkader, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Jacobs officiating. Burial was in the Union cemetery, Littleport.
Pallbearers were Charles Stiehl, Fred Eggimann, A.A. Schultz, Wm. Sadewasser, Harold Knoke and Elmer Bente.
Minnie Mary Meier was born August 19, 1887, at Elkport, the daughter of John and Mary Stone Kafer, and died Monday, August 22, 1960, at a hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis., following a stroke suffered six days before.
She spent her childhood on a farm near Elkport and was educated in the rural schools of Elkport.
She was married to August W. Meier March 14, 1904. Thirty years ago they moved to Elkader.
She was a member of Service Star Legion, Inc., Women's Guild, Peace E. and R. Church, and the Grandmas Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1931, and two children, Douglas and Zwingley in infancy.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Frana) Sevey, Hanover, Ill., and Mrs. Walter (Ena) Hebron, San Bernardino, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Joyce Bedinger, Mrs. Joan Peterson, Don, Dean, Duane, Judy, Jean and Janice Sevey and Larry Hebron; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William (Alice) Kite, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Harry (Alma) Noyes, St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Andrew Kafer, Rockford, Ill., and George Kafer, Cassville, Wis.
