Hi!

The Jacob and Lydia H. Russell in the 1870 Fed. Census as living in Fairport, Muscatine County with 3 children; Frederick, Emma & Frank C. Jacob' age and place of birth is no where close to the bio of Hon. J. J. Russell in the 1889 Muscatine Co. History book.

I can't open the link to the divorce papers you found on familysearch. What was the date on that paper? According to the 1889 History Jacob married Nellie Kane 12 Jan 1876. His divorce would have to be final before marrying again.

The library doesn't have divorce microfilm. Only the Muscatine Co. Clerk's office has it. Sorry, but as Covid is raging so badly around here I am not doing any research outside my home right now.

Have you found anything more on Frederick & Emma Russell? I sure haven't found them as living in Iowa after 1870 - yet. As Frederick would of been 17 yrs and Emma 15 yrs they could of been hired as laborers.
