R.S. Dickinson had three children, Arthur, Oren, and Adella. The mother of these children was Margaret Coplin. R.S. and Margaret were married in Oswego New York on July 7, 1837. R.S. co-owned the Dickinson-Mitchell sash factory in Oswego until it burned to the ground on October 6,1835. R.S. also tried to found the town of "Mexico" in new york but later filed bankruptcy around 1842.n R.S. and Margaret divorced, when I'm not sure, but sometime before 1853. Maybe Margaret died, I'm not sure. He brought his three children to Dixon Iowa with him, and then sent them to live with their grandparents Coplin in Michigan. Oren eventually returned to Dixon when he reached the age of 18. I'm not sure if the other two children came back with R.S. or not, but more than likely they did. Arthur and Adella showed up on a census for our town years later, I can't remember the dates off-hand. R.S. remarried a lady by the name of Emily (not sure of her maiden name) and had 9 more children. I have most of their names somewhere in my stacks of paperwork, let me know if you want all of them. There was a web page on the net that stated R.S. died in 1893 possibly in Missouri (that's where Arthur supposedly homesteaded. Oren married Susan Larson, daughter of John and Margaret (Anfinson) Larson on Sep 9, 1860. They had 9 children together. I have not found where Oren and his family are buried yet, nor any of the other Dickinson's, but I'm still searching. If you want any more information email me directly and I can give you what I have. I published a book 2 years ago on the history of Dixon Iowa and have researched the Dickinson family for a hobby. I'm curious to know any other informtaion you may have!
