Latham, William 'Billy' 1944 - 1951

William Latham, seven year old son of Sgt. and Mrs. J. C. Latham of Elkader, died in Mercy hospital at Iowa City Tuesday morning.

The boy suffered a lung collapse after a minor operation, preparatory to having a skin graft on a deformed hand. In a previous surgery the boy's lungs had shown no defect, according to the Iowa City surgeon.

Billy was born in a suburb of Los Angeles, April 02, 1944. Seven years old this year, he was a student in the first grade at the Elkader public school.

He is survived by his parents, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Lynes, Kansas City, and an aunt, Mrs. Eleanor Wareham, Los Angeles.

Funeral arrangements are pending word from the child's father.
