Funeral services for Lars P. Larson, 81, were held from the Witt funeral chapel, Elkader, at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon, April 30, and at the Highland Lutheran church at 2 p.m. The Rev. A. O. Nessett officiated. Burial was in the Highland cemetery.
Mr. Larson had been ill twelve days. He suffered a stroke and later pneumonia set in. He died at his home in Highland township, eight miles west of Elkader, Friday, April 27, 1951.
Lars Peter Larson was born in Highland township June 17, 1869, the son of Peter R. and Carrie Benson Larson. He received his education in the rural schools near his home and spent his entire life in Highland township. He was a farmer by occupation.
On September24, 1913 he was married to Miss Lydia Roras, who survives him. He was a member of the Highland Lutheran church.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. Myrtle Trehus, 1524 Ferry St. La Crosse, Wis.; Mrs. Rose Ormsby, 397 So. 6th St., La Crosse, Wis.; La Vern R. Larson 108 Oak St., Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; Norris N. Larson, Elkader, also five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two brothers, Henry P. Larson, St. Olaf, and Perry Larson, Elgin, and his step-mother, Mrs. Carrie Larson, Elgin.
Two sons preceded him in death, Merlin in 1924 and Peter in 1929.
Pallbearers were: Glen Larson, Adolph Larson, Orvald Larson, Harry Larson, Olavus Larson and Philman Larson.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Trehus, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ormsby, all of La Crosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. La Vern R. Larson, Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; Miss June Meisner, Rochester, Minn.
