Funeral services for Christ Meyers, 80, of Strawberry Point, were held at the Gill chapel in Strawberry Point Wednesday afternoon, April 25 with the Rev. B. H. Shaw of Edgewood in charge. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Mr. Meyers died early Monday at Mercy hospital in Oelwein where he had been taken the previous day. He had not been well for some time.

Christ Meyers, the son of Joseph and Maggie Liddy Meyers was born in Cox Creek township February 22, 1871. He was married in 1893 to Emma Broel of Elkader and the couple made their home on their farm in Cox Creek township near Communia for nearly 57 years. They moved to Strawberry Point about two years ago.

Mr. Meyers is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Viola) Freitag of Elkader; a son, Avery C. of Manchester; two half-brothers, Albert Meyers and Ben Meyers of Elkader; and a half sister, Mrs. Jerry Hurley of Ryan. He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; a daughter, Mamie; two brothers, John and Frank; and a half-brother, Henry.
