ELKPORT: Funeral services were conducted at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church Saturday, Feb. 24, for Ralph Oldham, who died following a heart attack on February 21. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the Brown cemetery near Colesburg in charge of the Tuecke funeral home of Guttenberg.
Pallbearers were John Thein, Leo Flaherty, George Webber, Arthur Jennings, George Amling and Leo Kirschbaum.
Ralph Oldham was born in Clayton county, Mallory township, near Colesburg on June 18, 1901, the son of Sylvester Doyle Oldham and the late Sylvia Herrington Oldham. He attended high school at Colesburg, Iowa, after which he helped on his father's farm.
On November 25, 1924 he was united in marriage to Blanche Mae Borrett of Osterdock. The couple farmed until 1929. From then until 1933 he worked with Del Borrett in the saw mill. Since that time he had been employed by the county. He was a member of the town council of Elkport from 1941 to 1950.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche; two daughters, Phyllis and Una Rose; one son, Delbert; his father, Sylvester Doyle Oldham; one sister, Hilda Oldham; and 13 nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother in April, 1938 and his brother Max in November, 1949.
