St. Peter's church in Garnavillo was the scene Sunday afternoon, July 08, when Arleta Backes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Backes of Garnavillo, became the bride of Frederick Hardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hardt of Dubuque. The Rev. John Mohr of Dubuque officiated. Maid of honor was Miss Marcia Rodenberg of Cedar Rapids, a cousin of the bride, and bridesmaids were Miss Carol Backes of Guttenberg and Arlene Bugenhagen of Luana, cousins of the bride. Shirley Ann Backes, sister of the bride was flower girl, and Gary Backes, cousin of the bride was ring bearer. The groom was attended by his brother, Donald Hardt, of Phoenix, Ariz. Ushers were Royce Backes, brother of the bride, and Robert Schlitter, a close friend of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Monona high school and attended Bayless Business college. The groom is also a graduate of Monona high school.
The new couple will make their home in Dubuque.
