Jorgen Andersen was a worker on the railroad in 1887 and was listed as the father of my grandmother, Selma Regina Andersen b. 3 June 1887 on her innoculation record when she returned to Karmoy, Norway with her mother, Karen Marie Simonsdatter.
He was also listed only as "George" in Benton County records. They probably returned (without Jorgen) between 1887-1897. By 1900, Karen Marie had married and returned with her new husband, Selma Regina and her four new children to Bryant, South Dakota.
Anne Helene Nilsen b. 1853-1887(Osthus) was Karen Marie's sister and was married to Samuel Berdines Nilsen in Karmoy, Norway. They immigrated to Norway, Benton county. Karen Marie must have arrived a few years before 1887, but I can't find a record.
It is possible that one of Anne and Samuel's children,Anne Matilda or Helene Samuelsdatter died in Benton county and were buried there? It is also possible that Anne Helene Nilsen (Osthus) died in childbirth. Any thoughts on this?
I REALLY want to find out about Jorgen Andersen!
