My grandmother, Selma Regina Jorgensen, was born on June 3, 1887 according to her obituary. However she was christened at the Benton Lutheran Church, in Norway, Benton, Iowa on May 23, 1887. Her mother, Karen Marie Simonsdatter came to the USA on December 13, 1883 on the SS Georgia. Her sister had married Samuel Berdines Nilsen in Norway in 1882. He arrived in New York on the SS Geiser in 1883 on July 28.He was listed as a mason.I cannot find the arrival of Anna Helena.
We believe that Karen Marie and Jorgen Andersen were the parents of Selma Regina, based on an innoculation certificated, filed in Norway (Europe) in 1891. But we cannot trace Jorgen Anderson, who was listed on this form as "railroad worker" in Iowa. Selma and her mother, Karen Marie arrived in USA (again) in 1900 with Karen's husband and her four other children by Ole Johan (Olsen) Sevland. They were going to Bryant, South Dakota, where Selma was baptised in a Norwegian church. In 1905 they lived in Ash Lake, Minnesota and after 1910 in Vang, North Dakota.
