Lillian Rose Chipera, age 92, of Fort Atkinson, IA, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024, at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Facility in New Hampton, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. Johns in Fort Atkinson, Iowa with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery, following the service.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Helms Funeral Home/ Chekal Chapel 201 Main St. Fort Atkinson, IA, and after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning.
Lillian was born on 1- 31- 32 and was the 7th of thirteen children born to John J. and Magdalena (Mihm) Langreck. She received her education at St. Lukes Catholic School in St. Lucas, IA graduating in 1949.
Lillian was united in marriage to Paul Chipera on August 8, 1956, to this union four children were born: David, Joyce, John and Daniel. The couple farmed together on the Chipera Family Farm. Being a farm wife was Lillian’s pride and joy. She had a warm smile and gentle manner, took great pride in her gardens, and loved to bake; her apple pie was a family favorite. Lillian was very creative, often putting together beautiful flower arrangements. She also enjoyed painting with oil colors.
Above all Lillian’s love for her family was her greatest treasure. She welcomed all and loved sending a little something home with everyone when they came to visit.
Lillian was devoted to her faith and a member of St. John Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Jackson Homemakers Club.
Paul and Lillian celebrated 61 years of marriage together.
Lillian is survived by her children: David Chipera of Waverly, Joyce (Bob) Walker of Mason City, Daniel (Michelle) Chipera of New Hampton, and daughter-in-law: Jeanie (Rick) Kirkeberg of Calmar. Nine Grandchildren: Carmen (Josh) Twedt, Brittany (Angie) Cenek-Chipera, Abby (Steve) Hillegas, Brett (Lindsay) Walker, Jarryd Walker, Nicole (Levi) Gulick, Blake (Becky) Chipera, Kyle (Shannon) Chipera, Collyn Chipera. 13 Great Grand Children: Stella, Lear, Lennex, Laiven, Blair, Lilly, Leyton, Lennon, Theo, Brandt, Kayce, Houston, Hayzen. Brother: Charles (Mildred) Langreck, Sisters: Virginia Kuhn and Edna Jirak, and sister-in-law: Nerissa (Doug Paige) Chipera, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Paul in 2017, and son John. Brothers: Henry (Verda) Langreck, Louis Langreck, Clem (Bernice) Langreck, Francis (Katherine) Langreck and Jerome (Eileen) Langreck. Sisters: Marie Langreck, Beata (Ray) Schmelzer, Agatha (Stanley) Busta and Margaret (Martin) Gossling. Brother in Laws: Julian Kuhn and Lawrence Jirak. Cecilia (Gene) Leuenberger, Viola (Rudolph) Pitzenberger, Leonard Chipera.
