Dianne Eileen (Qvern) Wemark, age 80, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, peacefully at home. Dianne was born on February 26, 1944, to Bob and Marge (Joerger) Qvern. She grew up in Cresco and during high school worked at Pinky’s Café. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and went on to LeJames Beauty School. She got her first job working at The Crown. She married Denis Wemark on July 7, 1967. They moved to Ridgeway where she started her own shop the Curly Q. They had 5 children: Julie, Amy, Jeffrey, Anne and Sara and eventually moved the Curly Q to the front porch at the farm. As the kids grew up, she made a change in professions and went to work at Hardee’s where she enjoyed getting up early to make cinnamon raisin biscuits. She later transitioned to working in the kitchen at the hospital in Cresco. She retired at the age of 65 and spent her time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed attending many concerts, musicals, plays and games over the years. Throughout her life she was an active 4-H leader for the Lincoln Sunflowers, taught Sunday and Bible School, and participated in many events at Peace Lutheran Church. She always had a story to tell or a memory to share.
Dianne is survived by children Julie (Todd McDonald) Wemark, Jackson, NE, Amy Wemark, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jeffrey (Belva) Wemark, Ridgeway, IA, Anne (Wayne Smith) Wemark, Cresco, IA and Sara (Mike) Fee, Sioux Falls, SD. Grandchildren: Daesha, McKenzie, Zach, Makayla, Brayden, Paige, Matthew, Kendra and Dylan. Brother Bob (Dianne) Qvern, Sisters Kris (Roger) Richardson and Marti (Dennis) Chvatal. Brother-in-law Lynn Wemark and many nieces and nephews.
Dianne was preceded in death by husband Denis Wemark, parents Bob and Marge Qvern, sister Danelle Koster. In-laws Maurice and Stella Margaret (Magnus) Wemark and sister-in-law Marlene Wemark along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Schmelzer Funeral Home in Cresco and again one hour prior to services at the church.
