OBITUARY.
LUDWIG.Anna Reihl was born Dec. 21, 1861, near Locust, Ia., Winneshiek Co. Here she spent her girlhood days. Her training was that of a Christian household. She joined the Evangelical church as a girl with her parents. At about the age of eighteen she moved wits{sic} her parents to this vicinity.
She was united in marriage Sept. 30, 1886, to John A. Ludwig. Three children were born to this union, Mrs. Winnie Copeman, who resides in Florenceville, Roy of Minneapolis, and Miss Eunice, who still lives at home. Besides husband and children, she leaves to mourn her loss five sisters, one brother and many other relatives and friends. About fifteen years ago she and her husband transferred their church relationship to the Granger M. E. church. Here she labored most faithfully for a number of years as a choir worker and later as president of the Ladies’ Aid. She was a kind and faithful wife and mother; her goodness extended to the point of sacrifice. She will be missed not only by her immediate family, but by her many friends as well. Funeral services were conducted on the lawn of the home by Rev. Lawrence E. Grabau and the choir, who sang a number of her most favorite hymns. Interment was made in the Oak Hill cemetery.
There’s something in “the parting hour”
Will chill the warmest heart,
Yet kindred, comrades, lovers, friends,
Are fated all to part; But this I’ve seen—and many a pang
Has pressed it on my mind—
The one who goes is happier
Than those she leaves behind.Have you a trust comrade dear—
An old and value friend?
Be sure your term of sweet concourse
At length will have an end.And when you part—as part you will—
Oh? Take it not unkind,
If she who goes is happier
When you she leaves behind.God wills it so, and so it is;
The pilgrims on their way,
Though weak and worn, more cheerful are
Than all the rest who stay. And when, at last, poor man, subdued,
Lies down to death resigned,
May she not still be happier far
Than those she leaves behind?CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to thank the many friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of wife and mother.
John A. Ludwig and Children.
