OBITUARY.

George P. Mott, well known as a horse dealer, died suddenly on Sunday morning from heart disease. He had gone to an outhouse and failing to return, his wife made investigation, finding him dead. Mr. Mott has been a sufferer from heart disease for some time. The deceased was born April 15, 1850, at Lima, Wis. He removed to Perry, Iowa, in 1868, and came to Decorah in 1883. In 1871 he was married to Mary C. Jackson, who died a number of years ago, leaving him with a daughter, now Mrs. Cora Brown of South Bend, Ind. He was married to Mrs. Sophia Hess, December 14, 1899, and is survived by his widow, his daughter Ruth, and two step children,--Ed. Hess and Mrs. Clara Burt,--as well as his daughter Mrs. Brown. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the home on East Main street, Rev. G. S. Lackland officiating, and interment was made in Phelps cemetery. There were present from out of town Mrs. Brown of South Bend, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Haskins of Perry, Iowa, George King of Jamaica, Iowa, and Ed. Hess of Minneapolis.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Phelps Cemetery. It shows he died Nov. 30 which does not agree with the above.
