OBITUARY.
On Monday, November 23rd, at Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Almira Montgomery Williams passed away after an illness of several months. Mrs. Williams went to California in January of the present year for her health, but she gradually failed. About a month ago she sent for her son Nathaniel L. Otis of South Bend, Ind., and he was with her at the time of her death. The funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 24th, and in compliance with her request her remains were interred in Ingleside Cemetery, Los Angeles.
Almira Montgomery was born in February, 1843, in Trumansburg, N. Y. In 1845 she moved with her parents to Aurora, Ill., where she resided until 1865, when the family came to make their home in Decorah. She received her education in Aurora Seminary and Northwestern College at Evanston. In 1867 she was married to Eugene Otis, who died a few years later. In 1882 she was married to Dudley Williams, who died at Hub City, Wis., in 1910. Beside her sons Montgomery Otis of Chicago and Nathaniel L. Otis, she is survived by her brother M. H. Montgomery of Decorah and her sister Mrs. L. M. Gibson of Washington, D. C. The news of her death will be a shock to many friends who have known her since her early residence in Decorah.
