Dale O. Brown, son of Oran H. and Anna Mae Wilson Brown, was born December 21, 1925 near Stockport and died early Saturday, January 19, 1991 at University Hospital, Iowa City at the age of 65.
He married Joeen Dinsmore June 22, 1947 at Sharon Presbyterian Parsonage, north of Farmington.
He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He farmed in Van Buren and Lee counties, worked 16 years for the Van Buren County Secondary Roads Department, and was serving his twenttieth year as a bus driver for Harmony Community Schools.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Jeanne Hoaglin, Hillsboro, Susan Helterbran and Nancy Carr, both of Keosauqua, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Vera Knowles and Irene Tomkins, both of Fairfield, Edna Briden, Stockport and Mary Kisling, Keosauqua, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Keller and three brothers, Lester, Forrest and LaVerne Brown.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 22, 1991 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Kevin Brown officiating. Interment with military rites was in Hillsboro Cemetery. A memorial was established for the family.
