Fern Darby

OLLIE - The service for Fern Darby, 72, of Ollie, who died Monday, Feb. 5, 1990, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ollie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jane Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie. Family visitation is 7-8 tonight at Fremont Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Darby was born Sept. 25, 1917, at Ollie, the daughter of Bret and Treva Kit Stull Davis. She lived her entire life in Ollie. On April 25, 1927, she married Frank Joseph Darby in Unionville, Mo. He died March 10, 1979. She was a homemaker, a member of Ollie homemaker, a member of Ollie United Methodist Church, a lifetime member and past president of United Methodist Women, a member of the Over 55 Club and Grandmothers Club. For years she was a volunteer worker for the Red Cross and Christmas Seals and since World War II had corresponded regularly with Ollie servicemen.

Surviving are a son, David F. of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Marilyn Hixson of Centerville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fracis Davis of Bloomfield, R.H. Davis of Birmingham; two sisters, Betty Reynolds and Carolyn Schrader, both of Ollie. A sister, Jean and a brother, Bill, preceded her in death.
