DeLause Henry Akey

DeLause Henry Akey, 84, a retired farmer of Memphis, MO. died at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 1990 in the Scotland County Nursing Home, where he had lived since 1987.

DeLause was born December 17, 1905 in Keosauqua, Iowa, the son of Charles Edward and Mary (Giberson) Akey. He attended Keosauqua schools. In 1930 in Memphis, DeLause married Irene Downing, and to this union three daughters wer(e) born. In 1940 he moved to south Memphis, where he farmed until he retired in 1985 and moved to Memphis. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses of Colony, MO.

On July 1, 1972, he married Florence Seely in Hallsville, MO, she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Pauline Lasley, of Columbia, MO; Joyce McGoldrick, Queen City, MO. and Doris Blake, Gillette Wyoming, four stepdaughters, Ann Richardson, Fulton, MO.; Mary Perkins, Ashland, MO; Jeannie Johnson, Rockford, Il. and Sandy Mastin, Hannibal, MO.; a brother and sister, Charles and Alice Akey, both of Burlington, IA., sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and eighteen step grandchildren.

The family has suggested memorials to Scotland County Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 15, 1990, at 1:00 p.m. in the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, with brother John Rinehart, officiating.
