Edna Whitcomb

Edna (Hall) Whitcomb, 69, of Coloma, Mich. died Friday at Watervliet Community Hospital in Michigan following an extended illness.

She was born May 6, 1921, in Chequest Township, Iowa, the daughter of William and Anna Hallberg Sandy. She had lived in the Benton Harbor, Mich. area for 50 years.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God, Benton Harbor.

She is survived by her husband, James Whitcomb of Coloma; four sons, Larry Hall of Sodus, Mich., Walter E. Hall of Greenwood, Ark., James Hall of Ticonderoga, N.Y. and Terry Hall of San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Donna Nobles and Mrs. Elaine Tharp of Anderson and Mrs. Diana Lucker of Stevensville, Mich.; five stepchildren, Betty Griffin of Mt. Prospect, Ill., James D. Whitcomb of Bloomington, Ill., Virginia B. Shepherd of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Joy Fox of Vandalia, Mich., and Francis Reno of Three Rivers, Mich.; four brothers, Chester Sandy of Jamestown, N.Y., William H. Sandy of Edinboro, Pa., Ralph Sandy of Washington, Ill., and Melvin Sandy of Keosauqua; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Harryman of Fairfield, Iowa, Mrs. Lucille Scheihing of West Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Alice Kifer of Douds, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Agnes, Berdina, Wilma and Ellen, her first husband, Walter J.T. Hall in 1979 and one son.

Services were held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Assembly of God, Benton Harbor. Burial was in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
