The service for Glenda K. Cook, 36, 204 South 14th St., who died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1990, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Suburban Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Raymond Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Cook family.
Mrs. Cook succumbed to continuing infection following a rare single lung transplant performed Sept. 22, 1989. The lung proved defective and was replaced six days later.
Mrs. Cook was born was born May 13, 1953, in Fairfield, the daughter of Glenn and Marjorie Crafton Snook, and lived her entire life in Fairfield. She was a former cook at the Family Cafe, had worked at J and B Plastics and as nurse's aide at Parkview Care Center before her health declined. She was a member of Suburban heights Baptist Church. She liked to do craft work and made "Country Crafts" at her home.
Surviving are her husband; five children, Cindy Porter of Rush Springs, Okla., Mark Reighard of Fairfield, Andy Cook Jr. and Mike Cook, both at home; a granddaughter; her mother, Marge Jarmes of Fairfield; two sisters, Denise Pease of Ottumwa and Wendy Jewell of Davenport. Her father preceded her in death.
