Della R. Forbes

Della Ruth Forbes, daughter of Charles W. and Sarah Zachau Witt, was born January 9, 1909 southeast of Keosauqua. She departed this life as the result of a homicide at her home on Keosauqua route 2, in the Center Chapel community. Her death was discovered the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11, 1990.

Della lived her life in the same neighborhood and was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She married Gerald G. Forbes in 1950. She continued to live in 1984. She continued to live in their farm home and was active in her church and community. Remaining to cherish her memory are a stepson, Ronald Forbes, his wife Noriko, Sepulveda, California, a step-granddaughter, Aline Forbes, Lawrence, Massachusetts, a step grandson, Alan Forbes, Northridge, California, and two brothers, Clarence Witt, Keosauqua and George Witt, Mountain Home, Arkansas, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Allen, John and Sam Witt and three sisters, Jennie and Sally Witt and Ada Warren.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 14, 1990 at 1 p.m. in Center Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Chrisa Ferguson officiating. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established for her church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
