Nelson James Curfman

Nelson James Curfman, 63, of Galesburg, Ill., formerly of Baring, Mo., died at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, October 28 at the Marigold Health Center, Galesburg, Ill.

Curfman was born July 31, 1927 near Wyaconda, Mo., the son of Charles R. (Jim) and Cleo J. Sweeney Curfman.

Surviving are his mother: Cleo L. Curfman, Galesburg, Ill., one brother, Floyd Curfman and his wife, Eleanor of Brookfield, WI, one sister, Ann Lucille Bundren of Galesburg, Ill., one aunt, Alsie Thompson of Wyaconda, two nephews, Gary Curfman of Elm Grove, Wis., and Charles James of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one niece, Karen Vanevenhoven of Found du Lac, Wis and cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Robert (Jim) Curfman.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 2, 1990 at the Payne-Gerth Chapel, Memphis, Mo. with Rev. Harold Marshall, officiating.

Burial was in Granger Cemetery, Granger, Mo.

Curfman attended schools in Scotland and Clark County, Missouri. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1953 through 1955, during the Korean Conflict, he farmed with his father until 1962.

He was employed by Rex Thommen, Mt. Sterling, Iowa from 1963 to 1973. He was also employed by the Daggs Farms, Arbela, Mo. and Dan Ladwig, Baring, Mo. from 1976 to November 1989, when he became ill with cancer. He then made his home with his mother and sister in Galesburg, Ill.
