William Kenneth Knecht, son of Francis and Genevieve Elsensohn Knecht, was born April 23, 1914 in Van Buren County between Douds and Troy and died the evening of Tuesday, January 16, 1990 at Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield, at the age of 75.
He had lived in the Douds Community, was a farmer and self-employed trucker, and a member of Zion Bible Church.
Kenny married Ruby Nedrow February 25, 1939. She died in 197. He married Hazel Meeker Johnson January 20, 1977.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel, three daughters, Dixie Gates, Douds, Donna Taube, Oviedo, Florida and Doris Kisling, Keosauqua; two step-sons, Raymond Johnson, Douds and Roy Johnson, Keosauqua and a step-daughter, Ruth Taube, Murrieta, California. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, two brothers, Harold Knecht, Sacramento, Calif., and Joseph Knecht, Corning, Iowa, a sister, Sara King, Hanover, Pa., other relatives and friends. A grandson, Mark Taube preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 1990 at 10:30 A.M. in the Zion Bible Church near Douds, with Pastor Walter Shuka officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials were established for Zion Bible Church and American Heart Association. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Iowa.
