1990 MY 1Wilson Woodrow Swailes
Mr. Wilson Woodrow Swailes, 74, 509 E. Green, Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, April 30, 1990, at 3:50 p.m. at University Hospitals, Iowa City.
He was born March 22, 1916, in Henry County, the son of Frank David and Mary E. Scarff Swailes.
On Dec. 4, 1939, in Kahoka, Mo., he married Clara M. Heare.
He owned and managed a service station at Stockport for 20 years. He was then employed by IAAP, Burlington.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Garry (Sandra) Philips, Stockport, and Dr. Linda Workman, Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Frances Gilbert, Ingleside, Ill.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Charles, Roy and George; and three sisters, Elsa, Nina and Lillian.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at Spencer Cemetery near Stockport, with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home.
Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the Stockport Heritage Society, Stockport Library, Morris Park, or Stockport First Responders.
