Merrill D. "Barney" Isaacson, son of Frank and Anna Almquist Isaacson, was born October 28, 1907 near Galesburg, Illinois and died the evening of Friday, January 12, 1990 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 82.
He married Dorothy Rebecca Spray April 29, 1931 at Mt. Pleasant. She died in 1976. He married Ruth McVey Leffler January 15, 1980 at Memphis, Mo.
Barney moved as a boy with his parents to the Hillsboro-Stockport area. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and spent his active life farming near Stockport. He was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, Workman Lodge No. 634, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Stockport Chapter No. 544, Order Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, two daughters, Jane Williams and her husband, Donald, and Carolyn Church and her husband, Walter, Salem, six grandchildren, a brother, Burdette, Stockport, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, a brother, Franklin, a sister, Beatrice Logan, and an infant brother.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 15, 1990 in Stockport United Methodist Church with Rev. David Kennedy and Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport. Masonic services were held at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 14 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Memorials were established for Stockport United Methodist Church and Workman Lodge No. 634.
