Funeral Services Held at Huxley For T. K. Tweedt

Funeral services for T. K. Tweedt were held at the Palestine church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after a brief prayer service at the home at 1:30.

The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. H. E. Jacobson, and he was assisted by Rev. Peder Buland of Story City, a former pastor.

Six nephews served as casket bearers, John Tweedt of Dolliver, Ed Woods of Eagle Grove, Omer Westre of Jewell, Harry Wee, Arthur Larson and Lewis Dobbe.

The services were largely attended by relatives, friends and members of the church which he had served so faithfully for many years as parochial school teacher, chorister and deacon. At the time of his death he was past 88 years and was the oldest member of the congregation. In spite of his advanced age he took an active interest in all church activities and in spreading the gospel of his Savior to all people. There were many gifts to the various branches of the missions, given in memory of the departed. The floral offerings were very beautiful, and they were arranged by Mrs. Newtie Wee and Mrs. Milton Dobbe.

At the opening of the services Walter Christopher sang a solo, "When I've Gone the Last Mile of the Way," with organ accompaniment by Miss Leona Brendeland. Rev. Jacobson chose his text from Paul's Second Epistle to Timothy, verses six to eight in the fourth chapter. After the sermon Mr. Christopher sang a Norwegian hymn, "Hvile I Mit Hjem." Rev. Buland, who was his pastor for many years, addressed the large audience, using the Norwegian language, and at the conclusion of services, Rev. and Mrs. Jacobson sang a duet, "For You I Am Praying." The remains were interred in the family lot in the Palestine cemetery.
