HENRIETTA BORN [sic] DIED AT HIGH AGE

Mrs. Marietta Born, 89, one of the pioneer citizens of the settlement south of Story City and last of those pioneers, died early Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. P. Carnes near Milford, Dickinson county, with whom she had made her home a number of years.

She had been bedfast for the past year, and death was due to old age and complications.

The family settled on the farm south of Story City in 1869, and there the children were reared. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Born continued to manage affairs and operate the farm until she finally retired and located in Ames.

Mrs. Jacob Born, nee Marietta Howe, formerly lived at Ames with her parents. After her marriage she moved to the Born homestead 5 miles south of Story City. She was born at Hartford, Conn., in 1853.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters. The daughters are Mrs. E. P. Carnes, with whom she spent the last ten years of her life, and Mrs. E. S. Owen of Minneapolis. The sons are Fred Born of Inglewood, Calif.; Bert Born of Canby, Minn., Dr. A. L. Born and Jay Born, both of Story City.

Funeral rites were held at Milford on Tuesday, and then the body was brought to Ames, where a service was held Wednesday afternoon at the Adams Funeral home, after which she was buried in the Ames cemetery. The service at Ames was in charge of Rev. Moore of the Church of Christ.
