OSCAR J. SMITH BURIAL YESTERDAY
Oscar J. Smith, 69, died in his home in the south part of town at midnight Sunday following an apoplectic stroke suffered last Thursday. Death came without his regaining consciousness.
Born Oct. 15, 1873, on a farm southwest of Story City, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Smith, he had lived on the same farm until four years ago when he retired and moved to Story City. He was not married.
Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. Harrison Jackson of Anamosa and Mary, who lived with him, and one brother, J. M. Smith, also of Story City.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, in the home at 1:30 and in the Grace Evangelical church at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Walter E. Ulrich. Burial was in the Center cemetery southwest of Story City.
