CARLA JEAN MARTIN
Carla Jean (Hightshoe) Martin, daughter of James E. "Bud" and Wilma (Bradley) Hightshoe, was born April 26, 1931, in Mt. Ayr, Iowa and died June 16, 1996 at the Leon Care Center in Leon, Iowa after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Carla attended country school south of Kellerton, Iowa and gradated from Lamoni High School in Lamoni, Iowa.
On June 15, 1949 Carla was united in marriage to Raymond E. Martin at the United Methodist Church in Kellerton.
In 1970 Carla and Raymond moved from Clarion, Iowa back to the Lamoni area where Carla worked for 18 years at Graceland College.
Survivors include her parents, James E. "Bud" and Wilma Hightshoe, residents of the Mount Ayr Health Care Center in Mount Ayr, Iowa; husband Ray Martin of Lamoni, Iowa; son Ron Martin and wife Leanna of Lamoni, granddaughter, Angela O'Dell and Husband Joel of Norwalk, Iowa; and grandson Ryan Martin of Lamoni; son Don Martin and wife Christine of Wichita Falls, Texas; son Mike Martin and wife Lisa and grandchildren; Joseph, Nathan, Michala and Gabriel of Coralville, Iowa; daughter, Joyce Hardin and husband Dale and grandchildren: Amanda and Anthony of Urbandale, Iowa; son Mark Martin and wife Nancy and grandchildren: Rebecca and Tyler of Bendena, Kansas; brother Dr. James Hightshoe and wife Marlene of Littleton, Colorado and nephew Gregory Hightshoe of Clemson, South Carolina; brother Jerry Hightshoe and wife Ila of Swisher, Iowa and nephew Jeffery Hightshoe and wife Tracy and great niece Brianne of Moline, Illinois; niece Paula Hightshoe of Dubuque, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at 2:30 pm June 18, 1996 at the Lamoni United Methodist Church with Rev. Paddy Druhl, Elder Dale Paterno and Mark Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Lamoni, Iowa at a later date.
Arrangements were made through the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Lamoni, Iowa.
