JAMES ELMER "BUD" HIGHTSHOE

James Elmer "Bud" Hightshoe, 95, of Mt. Ayr Health Care Center, Mount Ayr, Iowa, formerly of Kellerton, Iowa, died Saturday, January 23, 1999.

Services were at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home at Mount Ayr on Monday, January 25, 1999 with Mike Martin officiating. Casket bearers were Jeff Hightshoe, Gregory Hightshoe, Mark Martin, Don Mart, Ron Martin and Mike Martin. Honorary pall bearers were Paula Denum and Joyce Hardin.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Wilma; two sons, James B. and Marlene Hightshoe of Littleton, Col and Jerry Hightshoe of Swisher, Iowa; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Carla Jean Martin; parents, Chris and Josephine; three brother; Merle, Russell and Ted; and three sisters; Iva Smith, Hazel Snell and Grace Bowen.

He was born October 4, 1903 in Melrose, Iowa and spent his entire life farming in Ringgold and Decatur counties.

He married Wilma Mae Bradley February 22, 1930. He was an active member of the Kellerton Oddfellows Lodge for many years.

His greatest joy always rested with his pride and devotion to his family. His greatest gift may have been in bringing a smile or laugh to all he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial fund has been established at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.
