Obituary - Joseph W. Scott

Joseph W. Scott, son of William James and Margaret M. Scott was born December 23, 1872, in Buck Creek, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, and passed away August 1, 1956, in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, at the age of 83 years, seven months and nine days.

In 1875 he came with his parents to Ringgold County, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On January 16, 1907, he was united in marriage with Belle M. Cecil, and to this union was born one son, Darrell W. Scott.

On October 4, 1919, his wife Belle, passed away. On December 6, 1938, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Mattie Johnson, who preceded him in death on February 16, 1953, since which time he had lived alone in his home in Kellerton.

He attended the Assembly of God church, when his health permitted.

He is survived by his son, Darrell; his daughter in law, Gladys, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, August 3, from the Assembly of God Church in Kellerton, conducted by the Rev. C. O. Templeton and the Rev. A. R. Wicker. Music was provided by Carolyn Templeton, vocalist, and Sandra Virden, pianist, and casket bearers were John White Sr., John White Jr., Charles Miller, Jess Simpson, A. J. Goodell and Lloyd Gilliland. Burial was in the Maple Row cemetery at Kellerton.
