Page 3Mrs. Geo. Townsend of Muscatine, a former resident of this county, passed away early Friday morning after an illness covering many years at the age of forty-seven. Her death was due to heart trouble. Eva Amanda Hascher was born in Louisa county, January 31, 1870. In 1888 she was united in marriage at Fredonia with George Townsend to which union six children were born, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. Fern Townsend, Mrs. B. A. Batchelor, Howard, Mabel and Vernice all of Muscatine. Besides her husband and children she leaves to survive eight grandchildren, one sister, Elizabeth Hascher, of Grandview and two brothers, John of Grandview and Frank of Muscatine.
She was affiliated with the Highland Nobles and the Fraternal Bankers' Reserve lodges and the Musserville Methodist church. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Musserville church, the Rev. G.W. Barber, pastor of the church officiating. Interment in the Greenwood cemetery.
