Taken from the issue of July 3, 1869: Geo. Waters, aged nine years, son of O. P. Waters and Herbert Crocker, aged eight years, son of Jerome Crocker, were drowned last Wednesday forenoon in the Mississippi near Hershey's mill, Muscatine. They were fishing for minnows on some loose logs in the boom. We learn from the Journal.
