(Muscatine) "Bud" Defenbaugh, aged 20, a farm hand, passed away at the Hershey hospital Monday evening following an accident which occurred that day on the Ira Lee farm in Muscatine county. His spine had been broken, several ribs had been fractured and other injuries of a serious nature were sustained in the accident. While operating a farm implement on the Lee farm, young Defenbaugh was mangled beneath it when the horses he was driving suddenly became alarmed, precipitating him beneath the machine. He was dragged for a considerable distance. The injured youth was hurried to the Hershey hospital, where every effort was made to save his life, but the injuries were of such a nature as to preclude recovery.
