Mary Ann Downs, daughter of Dale and Margaret Eivins Orr was born near Lorimor in Madison County, Iowa on March 13, 1939 and departed this life at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on June 1, 1989 at the age of 50 years, two months and 18 days.

Mary Ann received her education in the ST. Charles Schools where she graduated from high school in 1957.

On May 4, 1958 she was united in marriage to David Downs at the ST. Charles United Methodist Church in St. Charles, Iowa. To this union four children were born.

Mary Ann was a resident of the St. Charles area since 1950. She farmed with her husband, drove a school bus for Interstate 35 Schools and she enjoyed cake decorating and was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship in St. Charles.

She is survived by her husband, David Downs of St. Charles; daughter, Debra Sue Williams and husband, David of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Larry Dale Downs and wife, Lori Kay of Des Moines; son Randy Wayne Downs of St. Charles; grandson, David Vance Price Williams III of Des Moines, Iowa, parents, Dale and Margaret Orr of St. Charles; sister, Barbara Daniels and husband, Claude of St. Charles; along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 5 at the United Parish Church of St. Charles at 11 a.m. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery at St. Charles. The Rev. Tom Webster and Rev. Doug Helton of St. Charles officiated.
