Page 1Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Bazel, living west of town, received the sad news Wednesday morning of the death of their son, Will, a member of the draft army, and who passed away at Camp Cody, Deming, New Mex. following an attack of measles, and it is thought pneumonia must have followed, tho they have had no particulars of his sickness other than a letter received Saturday saying that he was very ill with measles. Mr. and Mrs. Bazel left on the early train yesterday morning for his bedside, but had only reached Washington when they were informed of his death. It is thought the body will reach here Friday night and the funeral services, to be announced later, will likely be held from the family home.
Will was drafted from Henry county and went to Camp Dodge with the first contingent in Sept. He had been at Camp Cody at Deming for about six weeks. The parents, sisters and brother have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow. - Morning Sun News-Herald
