Page 1Birdie Mae Nichols, daughter of James and Mary Nichols, was born in Des Moines county, Ia., May 4, 1897, and died at her home, west of Morning Sun, October 4, 1917. On July 4, 1895, she was united in marriage with John Blair. To this union was born ten children, three of who died in early childhood. The loss of this mother leaves a father, five girls and two boys to mourn. The children are: Mrs. Alta Westfall of Davenport, Elwin, Orpha, Fern, Myrtle, Maude and Earl at home. The youngest is but 3 years old. In 1907 Mrs. Blair was taken into the Methodist church on probation by the Rev. Mr. C. H. Zimmerman.
With her father and mother, there survive of her family, four brothers and two sisters: Charles Dwight and Dale Nichols and Mrs. Maude Jarvis of Morning Sun; Ray Nichols of Camp Hodge, Iowa, and Mrs. Martha Bardour of Patterson, N. J. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Morning Sun, Friday afternoon, October 15, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Lanning. Interment was made in the Elmwood cemetery.
