Mr. Ephriam Owens, one of the oldest residents of Wapello and Louisa county, passed away at his home north of Wapello last Saturday afternoon, January 13th. He was born in Scott county, Kentucky, October 7, 1822 and was at the time of his death aged 89 years, 2 months and 21 days. On March 4th, 1846, he was united in marriage to Miss Rachel Abbigill in Bartholomew county, Indiana. Soon after their marriage they came to Louisa county and settled in Wapello. Mr. and Mrs. Owens were the parents of one child, Hiriam J., who preceded the father in death several years ago. Mrs. Owens, who is ow 85 years of age is left alone to mourn the death of a devoted husband. Deceased is also survived by one grandson, George Owens, who is now in the United States navy. Funeral services were held from his late home Monday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. Interment in the Wapello cemetery.
