George Hook, a prominent and prosperous farmer residing over in Jefferson township, passed away at this home this morning about seven o'clock death being caused by blood clot on the brain. He was taken seriously ill Tuesday and continued to grow worse until the end came. George was the son of George W. and Emily B. (Trask) Hook, both deceased and was born on the old home in Jefferson township forty-six years ago. Here he spent his entire life. A number of years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Bissinger, who, with their two daughters, Alma and Ruth, survive to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father.

He was a faithful worker in the M. E. church at Toolesboro and will be greatly missed. Naturally of a pleasant and jovial disposition he won friends wherever he went and many hearts are filled with sorrow now that he is gone. He was an excellent citizen, a good neighbor, a kind husband and father and a man needs no higher eulogy. Besides his wife and two daughters, he is survived by four brothers and three sisters, Alonzo B., of near Wapello, Dr. E. I., of Chicago, Ill., Grant, residing near this city, Merit, of Colorado, Mrs. Jessie L. Parsons, Mrs. Emma Wright and Mrs. Lola Edwards, all of Wapello. One sister, Mrs. Sophia Tustison, preceded him in death a number of years ago.
