Page 4Sunday morning, Oct. 30, at 10 o'clock occurred the death of B.P Shaver, senior member of Shaver Bros. cement factory of Columbus Junction at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Shaver. Typhoid fever was the cause of his death. He was taken ill a little more than a week ago, but was not considered dangerously so until Saturday. Many of his Columbus Junction friends were unaware of his condition and to those who were intimately associated with him during his residence there, the announcement of his death was received as a distinct shock.
Birney P. Shaver was born at Amish, Johnson county, Iowa, June 9th, 1861. He was united in marriage on May 1, 1888, to Miss Lydia Scheib, of Wellman. To this union were born three children, two daughters, Merle and Bernice, and one son, Karl. Their home was near Wellman with the exception of two years, which they lived in Mitchell, S. Dakota, from which place, in June, 1910, they moved to Columbus Junction, when Mr. Shaver became a partner in the cement brick and tile factory with his brother Erlis.
He was upright in all his dealings and of a pleasing personality that won for him many friends. Mr. Shaver's death occurred at the home of his parents in Columbus Junction, his family having moved to Iowa City a short time ago, that the daughter might attend college. His wife, two grown daughters and a son survive. His other relatives are his parents and brother, Erlis. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the M. E. church in Wellman, Ia. The funeral party departed for Wellman on the early train Tuesday morning.
