Morning Sun News-Herald: Mrs. Alceste Tharp died at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs. J. P. Latta, in Waterloo, Iowa, Sunday evening, August 6th. She had been an invalid for some years, the past two years being confined to her bed or chair most of the time. She grew rapidly worse Sunday morning and the end came peacefully in the evening. The remains were brought to Morning Sun, Tuesday, and the funeral services held at the home of the brother, J. K. Latta, at 3 p. m., conducted by Rev. George Blagg. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.

Alceste Latta was born near Fort Scott, Kan., September 14, 1868 and came to Iowa with the family in 1875 settling in Morning Sun. She was married Nov. 20, 1898, to Wm Tharp, who preceded her in death some few years ago. She was of a quiet, unassuming disposition and her faith in God sustained her during the many months of intense suffering through which she was called to pass. She is survived by one daughter, Margery, by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Latta and brother Fred, all of Waterloo; also by two other brothers, M. E. Latta, of Washington and J. K. Latta of Morning Sun. and by two sisters, Mrs. D. C. Sterrett, of Riverside, and Mrs. H. J. Jones of Kansas City.
