Page 1Wednesday night Aug. 9 at 8 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Smith, southeast of town, occurred the death of one of Louisa countys oldest residents and pioneer citizens, Warner Selman. He was born in Anne Arundel county, Maryland, Nov. 9, 1818 and was in his 93rd year. He was married in Ohio to Rebecca Wold and came to Louisa county over 53 years ago. He has since made Columbus Junction his home. Mrs. Selman died several years ago. Deceased leaves to mourn his death six children, three boys and three girls. The boys are George of Columbus Junction, Eli and William of Muscatine county. The girls are Mrs. Mary Buffington, Mrs Anna Smith and Mrs. Eva Carter, all residents of Columbus Junction and vicinity. The funeral services were held from his late home Saturday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. C. L. Wilson. Interment in Columbus City cemetery.
