Mr. Bidwell, the traveler whose pathetic case aroused the sympathies of Columbus Junction people last Monday died at the Louisa county farm last Wednesday and his body was shipped to Fairfield Thursday for burial. The man was traveling from Cedar Rapids to Fairfield and was put off at Columbus Junction for transfer. He was too ill to leave the station at that place and spent the night there. Early on Tuesday morning he was taken to the county hospital and the attending physician pronounced his case typhoid fever. It is thought the long ride in the extreme heat hastened his death as he lived but a few hours after reaching the hospital. The authorities could learn but little except that his name was Bidwell and that he had a brother living in Fairfield, to which place he was journeying when illness interrupted his trip.
