Last Sunday morning about six o'clock Ora Marie, the little twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schmeiser was accidentally killed by a horse. Mr. Schmeiser went out to the barn early in the morning to feed his horses, taking the little girl with him. While he was feeding, Ora went to the shed, adjoining the barn, to look at a calf and while there one of the horses, loose in the barn, also entered the shed. The little girl immediately went outside and just as she was leaving, the young horse, apparently frightened at the calf, suddenly turned and ran past her, striking her and knocking her down with its front feet. The hind foot struck her breast and crushed it so that death resulted about twenty minutes later. The terror stricken father hastened to the scene and Drs. Grimes and Chittum were immediately summoned, arriving at the home just as life left the body.

Ora Marie was born near Wapello in the present home of her parents, Feb. 26, 1908 and died Sunday morning, July 9, 1911, at the age of three years, four months and thirteen days. She was of a friendly disposition, bringing much sunshine and joy to the home. Her sudden departure ? greatly ? mourned by her parents, ? only sister, Vera and her twin brother, who was so unseparable attached to her. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. David Froeschle after which the remains were laid to rest in the Wapello cemetery.
